Happy New Year!
It seems like forever since I’ve last posted.
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas.
Mine was good (other than breaking down on the side of the road Christmas evening. Our vehicle is still at the shop. 😦 Ugh!)
The best part of the holiday, was being able to spend time with friends and family, including my best friend Jessica (whom I don’t get to see often enough) and her significant other.
Jess always brings me a bunch of clothing that she no longer wants when we get together. It’s like Christmas every time she visits! (And this time it really was Christmas! Ha!)
One of the treasures she brought was a dress that she wore one of the times I went to visit her in the summer. We walked to the beach and had our pictures taken together. (That’s how I remember the dress.)
Here’s a closeup:
She was very fond of this dress, but it was a bit short for her current liking, so I decided to refashion it for her.
First, I made a big cut:
I made sure to keep the side-zipper intact, which will be helpful in a future refashion.
After stitching up the side (where I had unpicked the zipper with my trusty seam-ripper), I folded over and hemmed the raw edge, and then pinned it to a wide piece of elastic that I had already measured around Jessica’s waist.
Once it was pinned in place, I simply stitched it all the way around, using a zig-zag stitch…
And that was it!
Only a few easy steps to this simple refashion.
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!
I can’t believe it’s been almost a whole year since I started this little blog.
It’s been a blast sharing my creativity with you and getting inspired by your creativeness as well!
If you have any requests for refashions (or any other posts) you’d like to see me do this year, I’d love to hear all about it!
Take care!
